Terms and Conditions of Participation

Terms and Conditions of Participation in the Ignite Ideas III Program 

  1. The Nestle Hellas Single Member SA, based in Maroussi, Attica (4 Patroklou Str.), (hereinafter Nestle) in collaboration with the Athens University of Economics and Business (Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation), based in Athens, Attica (46 Kefallinias Str.), hereafter referred to as “Organizers”, take the initiative to organize a joint action to encourage participation in the development of innovative ideas in the following areas:
  • Innovative Services and Approaching Models regarding Consumers and Customers
  • Innovative Solutions for Data Driven Retail Decisions, utilizing mainly Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence practices.
  • Innovative Applications in Consumers’ and Customers’ Environmental Awareness 

Τhereafter referred to as “Program”.

The purpose of these terms is to define the Terms and Conditions for the Participants to the Program (hereafter referred to as “Participants“), as well as for the selection of the winners within the context of the Program. The present terms are also available on the website of the Program: https://igniteideas.gr/ (hereafter referred to as “Program Website“).

2.Eligibility of Participation

Anyone who is over 18 years old is eligible to participate in the Program as a team member. The employees of the Organizers, their first-degree relatives and their spouses are excluded from participation.

In particular, it is noted that only those who can participate in person, with physical presence in all trainings / workshops that will take place in Athens during the Program, have the right to participate individually in the Program (individual participation).

3.Participation Requirements

The Participants are required to read carefully the present Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy before submitting their proposal. By submitting their proposal, they are assumed to unconditionally accept the Terms and Conditions and be bound by them. It is also assumed that they agree to and accept the Privacy Policy and what it defines –together with the present Terms and Conditions- regarding the collection and processing of their personal data within the Program. All members of the Team should be eligible to participate and qualify for the Program.

The participation in the Program is made:

A) In case of team participation, by submitting the business proposal of the team along with the required supporting material to the Program Website https://igniteideas.gr/ (see below in Phase A). Each team can have from 2 up to 6 members. The business proposal must be original, and it should be in its entirety the exclusive intellectual property of the Team submitting it (see below 6. Intellectual Property Rights – Guarantees).

And 

B) In case of individual participation, by submitting in Program’s Website https://igniteideas.gr/ the relevant application form (see below in Phase A). 

Only proposals submitted in Greek and English will be accepted; proposals submitted in other languages will not be considered, with the exception of using international terms if required.  

The Participants in the Program have the full and exclusive responsibility of registering or protecting their submitted proposals and the rights deriving therefrom. Each Participant has the right to only one participation either as a member of a single Team or as an individual (individual participation)

. Each submitted proposal/application must contain the original written consent both for participation in the Program, the submission of the proposal (if any) and the acceptance of the present Terms and Conditions, as well as for the processing of personal data signed by each Participant. In the case of group participation, the Team representative, upon submission of the application for participation, declares and guarantees the observance of the above.

In order to participate in the Program, all Participants  are required to accept the Terms and Conditions of the Program. In addition, all the information provided to the Organizers must be true, accurate, and correct, both in terms of their business proposal and their personal data. In case of a false declaration or participation by persons who do not meet the participation requirements, their participation will be canceled at any phase of the Program, and in case these occur only to one member of the Team, the participation of the entire Team will be canceled.

In the case of individual participation, the personal, physical presence of the Participants in all the trainings / workshops that will take place during the Program in Athens, is required. Therefore, personal/physical presence in the trainings/workshops is a prerequisite for participation in the Program. The Organizers do not undertake to cover the costs of participating in the trainings / workshops (eg transport costs, accommodation costs etc.).

The Organizers have no responsibility to cross-check the data, and in case of a false statement in particular, they can claim compensation for any damage they may suffer. Any document or other material – part of the proposal submitted within the context of the Program- will not be refunded in any case. Any cost of preparing the proposal submitted in the Program (e.g. cost for an artwork, pilot testing) is borne solely by the Participants.

4.Phases of the Program – Evaluation of Proposals

The total duration of the Program is from September 2022 to March 2023. The Program consists of three (3) Phases. The evaluation of the Participants will take place at the end of each Phase of the Program.

Phase A Send your application

For those who have already their own entrepreneurial idea and team (team participation).

Submission of Proposals: During the period September -October 2022, teams submit their business idea that they intend to develop within the context of the Program in the Program Website. In order to be considered complete and to be assessed, the submitted proposal should be completed based on the template available on the Program Website with the following sections:

-Choose the unit in which you seek to submit your idea.

  •  Innovative Services and Approaching Models regarding Consumers and Customers
  • Innovative Solutions for Data Driven Retail Decisions, utilizing mainly Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence practices.
  • Innovative Applications in Consumers’ and Customers’ Environmental Awareness 

-Representative’s Contact Details: Name, Surname, E-mail, Contact Number

-Idea 

Short description of the idea

Who are the customers, the users?

What is the competitive advantage of your idea?

What is the gap / need of market?

When will you be ready to carry out the pilot implementation of your idea?

Acceptance of the Terms and Conditions of Participation in the Program and Consent to the Processing of  Personal Data 

In this Phase, the evaluation criteria are indicatively the following: the value that the idea gives to the solution of specific needs/challenges, the feasibility of the idea and the organization and quality of the team members. The Scientific Committee evaluates the proposals and decides which teams qualify for the next phase. The announcement of the results of Phase A will take place at the end of October 2022 the latest.

For those who wish to join individually in   a new team (individual participation).

Submission of Proposals: During the period September – October 2022, participants submit their application through the Program’s Website. In order for the submitted application to be considered complete and to be assessed, it must be completed based on the template available on the Program Website, the sections of which include:

By completing the form, the Participant will describe the skills they can offer to the team which they will get involved, as well as their vision and goals. The scientific committee will evaluate the submissions and will decide which ones will proceed to the next Phase.

During this phase, the Participant, if selected to take part in the Program, will participate in workshops (idea generation, team building, etc.), will become a member of a newly formed team and together with his team, they will identify the problem (challenge) they want to dealk with, based on the thematic areas of the Program. At the end of this Phase, the Participant, along with his Team, will submit a specific idea, which they will form further in the next phase.

In case of a Participant’s withdrawal from the team created underthe Program, at any phase of the Program and for any reason, all rights to the content/material already created will be transferred to the rest team members. 

Phase B Form your idea

Phase B lasts from November 2022 to December 2022. 

Regarding the participants who have their own entrepreneurial idea and team (team participation).

According to the entrepreneurial idea each team has decided during the first phase, the teams need to identifythe key components of their business model, by developing a first version of their proposal. Moreover, during this phase, the Participants/members of each Team will take part in meetings (pivoting workshops) with experts from Nestle or third parties, in order to provide them with feedback, so that they can adapt/change their business model. At the end of this phase, they will be invited to present their entrepreneurial proposal to the Scientific Committee, which will evaluate the level of completeness and feasibility of their idea and will select the teams that will qualify to the next phase of the Program (Phase C).

The evaluation criteria are, indicatively, the completeness and innovation of the proposal, the maturity and feasibility, the sustainability and scalability, the targeted market and the team. The announcement of the results of Phase B will take place between December 2022 and January 2023.

For those who wish to join individually in a new team (individual participation).

According to the entrepreneurial idea  submitted by the teams formed during the first phase of the Program, they will design their business model, by developing a first version of the proposal. Moreover, during this phase, the Participants/members of each Team will take part in meetings (pivoting workshops) with experts from Nestle or third parties, in order to provide them with feedback, so that they can adapt/change their business model. For the further support of the teams, a series of educational seminars has been created by Organizers, as well as coaching sessions will be held at the same time. At the end of this phase, they will be invited to present their entrepreneurial proposal to the Scientific Committee, which will evaluate the level of completeness and feasibility of their idea and will select the teams that will qualify to the next phase of the Program (Phase C).

Phase C Validate your idea

At the final phase of the Program, which will last from January 2023 until March 2023, the participants are asked to validate within 3-4 months their Proof-Of-Concept / Prototype which they presented by testing it in a real-time environment.

During Phase C, the teams will be asked to prepare a complete pitching presentation of their business proposal (Final Pitching) to be presented before the Scientific Committee. The Scientific Committee will decide on the basis of specific criteria which teams will be awarded. 

The evaluation criteria are, indicatively, the proposal’s sustainability and innovation, the maturity and feasibility of the innovative product/service, the targeted market and the quality of the team. The winning teams will be selected based on this evaluation. 

Organizers retain at any time the right and the discretion not to select winning teams or to select fewer winning teams if the Participants do not meet the evaluation criteria or there is no progress from one Phase to the next. Participants’ evaluation is freely made at the discretion of the Organizers. 

The winners of the Program will be announced at a special award ceremony.

The exact dates for each Phase will be announced in the Program Website. The Organizers reserve the right to change these dates in order to better serve the needs of the Program.

5.News, Updates and Winners’ Announcement

Throughout the Program, information, news and updates will be provided through the Website of the Program.

News and updates referring exclusively to each Team will be communicated to the representative of the Team individually via email. In particular, during all phases of the Program, the Organizers will inform all Participants by e-mail whether their team was qualified to the next phase or not.

The Organizers will not announce the identity of the evaluating committee, nor the grades and  ranking of the submitted proposals. 

The announcement of the winners will take place at a special award ceremony that will signify the end of the Program. (see earlier 3. Phases of the Program – Evaluation of Proposals). Once the results have been announced at the ceremony, the names of the winners and a description of their proposal will be made public on the Program Website and any other website that belongs to the Organizers and / or any other media, including social media, in order to communicate the results of the Program.

6.Intellectual Property Rights – Guarantees

The Participants declare and warrant that the submitted proposal to the Program is original and is lawfully submitted in accordance with the Program’s Terms and Conditions. The Participants bear sole and full responsibility towards the Organizers and any third party for their submitted proposal and the accuracy of the information they claim. 

The Participants declare and guarantee that they are the exclusive owners of all intellectual property rights on the business ideas that they submit in order to participate in the Program, that the entire material they submit and produce during all the phases of the Program are original, and do not infringe third party rights, including intellectual property and personality rights, morality and public order, and do not contain third party information (eg, indicatively texts, images, people, trademarks, trade secrets, distinctive signs). In the event of a claim by a third party against the Organizers for any kind of infringement related to the submitted or produced material, the Participants shall be solely responsible and must undertake any litigation relating thereto and shall exempt the Organizers from any liability for damages including costs and expenses of any nature.

By participating in the Program all Participants agree for the Organizers to make public and present to the public their business ideas submitted and any other material/work produced within and for the purposes of the Program.

 The Organizers are entitled, at their discretion, to cancel entries/participations that are in any way contrary to the present Terms and Conditions, including, but not limited to, participations with content that is illegal, pornographic, violent, misleading, threatening, abusive, defamatory, racist or vulgar or otherwise in violation of the current legislation, including intellectual property law, morality, right to personality and public order.

7. Participants’ Personal Data 

For the Program to be conducted and winners to be selected it is necessary for the Organizers to collect and process a series of data, including personal data concerning the Participants.

The data to be collected and processed are mentioned in detail in article “4. Phases of the Program – Evaluation of Proposals” and which each Participant have provided by completing the submission form for their participation (see earlier Phases of the Program – Evaluation of Proposals).

In addition, to upload the files and submit the entry form, through the Website one should be linked to a Google email account (Gmail). By uploading the files and submitting the entry form, the name and photo associated with the Google email account are automatically recorded. This data is collected and processed by Google as defined by the functionality of this specific service and Google’s privacy policy. It is noted that none of the Organizers collects, stores or access this particular data, i.e. it does not know the email address or access the photo associated with it. This information is collected and processed by Google to achieve the submission of the participation form on the Program’s Website through its services. 

The data will be collected by the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Athens University of Economics and Business, which manages the Website through which the data is collected. Nestlé Hellas Single Member S.A. will gain access to the personal data of the Participants after their collection by the Athens University of Economics and Business, following the dispatch of a file containing the details of the Participants. Nestlé Hellas Single Member S.A. does not manage or access the website/platform.

The collection and processing of the Participants’ personal data is strictly and exclusively limited to the context defined by the execution of the Program, the need to communicate with the Participants, and the nomination/selection of the winners. The data are collected and processed for the conduct of the Program, the communication with the Participants and the Teams, and the nomination/selection of the winners.

Only the data that is strictly necessary, adequate and appropriate for the implementation of the Program is collected and the processing is governed by the principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (Regulation 2016/679) and the applicable legislation, with an aim to respect and protect the Participants’ privacy.

The Organizers will retain the Participant’s personal data in a form that permits identification for as long as they maintain a continuous relationship with the Participants (e.g. during all the phases of the Program) and the data are necessary for the implementation of the Program, as well as for the duration of any applicable limitation period (i.e. any period during which a person could bring a legal claim against them), and an additional 2 months following the end of the applicable limitation period. In addition, if any relevant legal claims are brought, they may continue to process Participants’ data for such additional time necessary based on the process of the claims.

Throughout the collection, processing and storage of personal data, all necessary and appropriate protection measures are in place. The submission of your participation form to the Program through the Website will be made using Google’s special forms, which are a Cloud service that is also used to store the data you submit with the form. Google commits that the Cloud services it provides are in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation. If the Participants choose not to provide the requested personal data, this will affect their ability to participate in the Program.

With respect to the Participants’ personal data and the rights provided by applicable law, Participants may contact Nestlé Hellas Single Member SA at 210 6844824 or at [email protected] and the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Athens University of Economics and Business at 210 8203827 or at [email protected]. Particularly, they can (i) request access to them (i.e. to know what kind of data we have for them and obtain a copy thereof), (ii) request their rectification (iii) request the deletion of their data, (iv) be informed about the processing of their Personal Data and ask to cease the processing (v) withdraw their consent, in which case their participation in the Program will be affected.

We hope we can resolve any questions about how we process your personal data. However, if there are unresolved issues, you can address them to the Data Protection Authority. For the Data Protection Authority’s competence and how to lodge a complaint, you can visit its website (www.dpa.gr – My Rights – Submitting a Complaint), where detailed information is available.

In the context of the implementation of the Program, participants may be asked to be recorded and/or photographed and/or videotaped and/or embedded in carrier material themselves (their image and/or voice), in any way by the Organizers during all stages of the Program in order to provide the relevant material (photographs, audiovisual material, etc.) to be used, processed, transmitted, posted, made public, retransmitted, through the Program’s website or through any other website belonging to the Organizers and / or through any other means, including social media, in this case, the Organizers will request the prior express consent of the participants in order to carry out the above processing operations, specifying the purpose of the processing. 

8. Committees

For the smooth running of the Program, the following committees will operate:

Organizing Committee: It consists of senior executives of the Organizers. The Committee’s responsibilities are the design and implementation of the Program, as well as the organization of relevant events and promotion activities. It is also responsible for any matter related to the Program and not foreseen in these Terms and Conditions.

Scientific Committee: It consists of executives of the Organizers. The Committee’s responsibilities are to provide advice and evaluation of the business ideas and the teams participating in the Program during the three phases of the Program.

9. Awards

The Participants are not entitled to any remuneration and / or other consideration for their participation in the Program under the terms hereof. After the completion of Phase C, the winning teams will be selected, as provided hereinabove under Phase C, and they will be given, in particular:

-Support by the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation through coaching sessions and other incubation services for the further development of innovative business models.

-Advisory support by Nestlé’s experts for the implementation of the product / service and its utilization in a real environment with the aim of developing the pilot.

-Symbolic monetary prize.

10 .Announcements / Cancellation of the Program / Modification of Terms / Responsibility

Any announcement regarding the Program, as well as any other matter related to the organisation of the Program, is posted exclusively on the Program Website and is valid from the date of its posting on this Website. In case of a conflict, the announcement on the Program Website takes precedence over any other information provided by the Organizers to the Participants.

The Organizers reserve the right, unilaterally, without notice and at their discretion, to modify, revoke, extend or reduce the duration of the Program, as well as to change these terms and / or to cancel the Program by announcing it on the Program Website. In such case the Organizers have no responsibility to the Participants and / or any third party. In case that the Program is canceled, the Participants do not acquire any right against the Organizers, nor are they entitled to, or have the right to request its continuation or any compensation.

In any case, the Organizers shall not be held liable for any direct or indirect damages, costs and expenses that may arise from any interruption, malfunction or delay or any other cause related to the Program or its cancellation.

11. Terms Acceptance

The participation in the Program requires and implies the unconditional acceptance of all of the present Terms and Conditions, even if modified in the future, as defined above.

12. Information – Complaints

For any information or complaint about the Program, any Participant or third party may contact the Athens Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of the Athens University of Economics and Business at 210 8203827 and at [email protected].

13. Dispute Settlement – Applicable Law

In case of a dispute, conflict or challenge by a Participant in the Program regarding the interpretation or proper implementation of a term of the Program, the Participant will address the issue -prior to any judicial action- to a three-member committee consisting of representatives of the Organizers, which will endeavor to reach a compromise, via an amicable settlement of the dispute. Any dispute or conflict that has not been resolved amicably in the above process and derives from or relates to these Terms will be resolved exclusively by the courts of Athens (excluding any other jurisdiction, even concurring one) in accordance to Greek law.
